The training

January to June 2027.

Six months to turn “maybe someday” into “what’s next?”

Several paths. One adventure.

Pick your combo. Training starts in January.

Hike. Navigate some of the most gorgeous alpine trails on the planet.

Add via ferrata. Clip into the Dolomites’ “iron paths” and wind your way up, down and across the mountain, then hike on to your rifugio.

Add rock climbing. Tie in and go fully vertical. Then back to the trail.

Throw in e-bikes, gondolas, spa days and Tyrolean cuisine, and you’ve got the full someday.

You don’t need the skills to start. Just a desire.

Adventure Day

Dolomites Training Day

Once a month, the real adventure education begins. It’s why you got strong and why you put the miles on your legs: body, mind and skill, finally working together.

For everyone: hit local SoCal trails, and even a mountain or two like San Jacinto. Get proficient hiking uphill and down, moving as a team, and working with trekking poles and a light pack. Master pacing and breathing at altitude and through big elevation changes. Together, you’ll become virtuosos of mountain movement.

For the via ferrata and climbing crew: add cables and ropes, harnesses and helmets. At Joshua Tree, our certified guide, Stephen Fredericks, runs everything technical, with Ryan, 20 years a guide himself, right beside him.

First Dolomites Training Day: January 2027. Dates land on the calendar soon.

What a Dolomites Training Day looks like.

Real terrain. Real exposure. Everything you train all year, put to work.

Steep ground, with a pack

Up and down varied terrain with weight on your back. Every Dolomites day asks for it.

Pacing, breathing, endurance

The engine that gets you up the mountain and back down it.

Vertical exposure

Air under your feet on a ridgeline or a rock face, and a calm head about it.

Cables and ropes

For via ferrata and climbing: belaying, rappelling, anchors, knots and hitches.

Adventure Sense, turned up

Awareness of yourself, the group and everything in and around you: terrain, weather, body and mind. The composure to respond, not react. Communication that’s clear, concise and confident. And honest.
